No, Faux EZTM is used for creating wood like faux finishes for kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, bookshelves, mantles and furniture projects.
Faux EZ™ Kits cover about 20 square feet. If you ar planning for a dark finish, you will need to purchase an additional can of Mahogany Mist Step Two to create the darker color finish. A Single kit contains enough product to complete a a door, a small vanity, a mantle, a coffee table, or and end table. For larger projects you should consider purchasing the Faux EZ™ Step One product in quart or gallon size.
- 1 Gallon of Faux EZ™ Step One Natural Wood Finish or Dark Cherry Finish covers up to 400 square feet and will use from 12 to 24 Step Two cans or more for very dark colors.
- 1 Quart of Faux EZ™ Step One Natural Wood Finish or Dark Cherry Finish covers up to 100 square feet and will use from 3 to 6 Step Two cans or more for very dark colors.
Yes, you can use Faux EZTM over any sound clean surface including oil or latex paint, lacquer, polyurethane and even vinyl wrap cabinet doors. We recommend you clean the surface thoroughly with a cleaner/degreaser before applying the Step One product to the surface.
You can use one or two coats of waterbased polyurethane for extra protection on hard use projects like table tops and kitchen cabinets. Be sure to wait 12 hours before applying clear coat.
I must admit I was skeptical when I pulled this stuff up on my computer. I had some old white (painted) bookshelves that my wife wanted replaced. I'm an electrician, not a carpenter and I'm retired and not anxious to spend a lot of money on new cabinetry. So I decided to make a minimal investment and give it a shot. I picked out a small portion of the whole project and went to work. I was so pleased with it, I went ahead and ordered a gallon of the brush-on product and two more cans of the spray. I completed that project and soon did another. The only drawback I can see is that my wife is so happy with the results, she's finding all kinds of other jobs to do. It's easy to apply and dries in a hurry. Clean-up is a snap too. We'll see how it holds up over time but six weeks in it still looks great!
